Dubai Trip- Malls and beach
by kelley on Jun.10, 2009, under Uncategorized
This is our day trip where we took a taxi around. We got picked up at our hotel and we went to The Dubai Mall. Its a brand new mall with over 1000 stores, though I would say half are full. Parts are still under construction. Its quite big, I think they set out to have it to be the biggest mall in the world. The Aquarium is inside the mall. After we did that, we took another taxi to the beach. We took some pictures only to realize when we were leaving, did we see all the no camera signs. Thankfully we didn’t get caught with our camera. After the beach we got another taxi and went to the Mall of the Emirates. Was a very nice day of sight seeing.

Christmas 2009

This is our trip back to the States for Christmas. Starting off at the Airport in Cape Town. We were able to enter the private lounge at the airport to wait till our flight boarded. It was nice. They had lots of snacks, little sandwiches with the crusts cut off, packets of chips, soda and drinks.
Enjoy the pictures!
While we were all together my mom had some family photos taken.
10th Anniversary at Langebaan

We spent our 10th anniversary at Club Mykonos which is located in Langebaan. We drove up on Friday afternoon. It was very windy on Friday and you can see all the wind surfers were out.
We had lunch at a restaurant called Driftwood. We both had calamari and chips.
One of our favorite dishes. We went walking along the beach after. We found these:
Andre’ explained to me that little prawns and things burrow under the sand and those are their breathing holes.
We did walk in the water a bit, but it was quite cold.
These are some pictures we took while walking on the beach.
We went up to the resort where we were staying. Here is a view from our room.
We went jet skiing on Saturday afternoon. No pictures of that. Sorry! But we had a fantastic time on the skies! It was exhilarating!
We had dinner at a place called Die Strandloper. It’s a seafood place. We had 10 courses of seafood! Andre’ took some pictures of each dish, but not all, he got bored and lazy. I know, shocker there!
Here are some of the pictures of the food!
We got someone to take a picture of us together:
This is a picture of the sunset.
We went exploring a bit before dinner and found some anemone’s.
Here are some pictures of Die Strandloper
We had a fantastic time. They had a musician, guitar playing singer, go from table to table, amusing everyone with a mixture of several Afrikaans and English folk songs. The atmosphere was fun. We sat at these wooden benches with a concrete table with shells on it. The staff and people were great. All the food was prepared over wood fires. The bread was made in woodfired ovens. Some seafood was boiled in giant pots over an open fire. There was very little electricity. I think it was all powered buy a generator. You brought your own drinks, they supplied glasses and a “knife and fork” in the form of a large cleaned mussel shell. It was certainly an experience we won’t forget!
